From Trauma to Hope:

Three Survivors of the Cambodian Khmer Rouge Genocide Tell Their Story

May 10th at 6PM at the SLO Public Market Event Center - 3845 South Higuera St, SLO

San Croucher was a young mother when the totalitarian Khmer Rouge regime took power in Cambodia. Some observers have argued that the secret U.S bombings of Cambodia, during the Vietnam War, helped fuel the Khmer Rouge's growth.

San and her daughters lost everything and were forced to work in the fields, facing terror on a daily basis. They were able to flee to Thailand and seek refuge in the U.S. not too long after. Their journey embodies hope.

Join us on May 10th, to hear their stories of resilience as recounted in Katya Cengel’s new paperback book Exiled: From the Killing Fields of Cambodia to California and Back.

San and her daughters will also speak about what they are doing in California to keep their culture present and alive while Cengel will discuss one of the current threats facing the community.

Copies of Katya Cengel's book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
