January 21:
SLO County TRUTH Act Forum Virtual Teach-Out
Join us for a virtual Teach-Out on Jan 21 from 5-6:30 pm. This meeting will be in preparation for the SLO County TRUTH Act Forum which is scheduled during the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday January 27, 2026. Attendees will receive information about what is a Truth Act Forum, how to provide public comment, and why everyone's voice is important in this process of accountability. Interpretation in English and Spanish will be provided.

January 24:
Community Launch Event of Mawtini: Arab American Narratives of Home and Belonging
The Peace Academy of the Sciences and Arts, in partnership with Our Roots/Our Routes and the City of San Luis Obispo, will launch Mawtini: Arab American Narratives of Home and Belonging, a community-led oral history project documenting the lived experiences of local Arab Americans. The launch event will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Cal Poly Kennedy Library Gallery (Building 35, 1 Grand Avenue, San Luis Obispo). Admission is free and open to the public.

January 27:
SLO County TRUTH Act Forum at the Board of Supervisors
The SLO County Board of Supervisors will be holding a Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds (TRUTH) Act Public Hearing on Tuesday, January 27, 2026
A TRUTH Act Report and Community Forum will be heard by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis Obispo, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Katcho Achadjian Government Center, 1055 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo, CA, 93408.
This hearing will focus on a report by the Sheriff's Office regarding local law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities, such as ICE. Public input will be gathered and everyone in the community is highly encouraged to attend.
Live in-person Spanish translators will be made available to interpret public comments that may come in in-person.
How to Participate / Public Comment:
Members of the public who wish to address the Board during the meeting must appear in person.
Written public comments may also be submitted by email; however, virtual public comments will not be accepted. To submit a written public comment, email: Boardofsups@co.slo.ca.us
