Understanding the Importance of Cesar Chavez Day

Cesar Chavez Day honors the legacy of a man who fought tirelessly for the rights of migrant farmworkers. Chavez co-founded the United Farm Workers union and led nonviolent protests to improve wages, working conditions, and dignity for agricultural laborers. His work brought national attention to the struggles faced by farmworkers, many of whom are immigrants and people of color.

Celebrating this day is more than remembering history. It is a chance to recognize ongoing challenges in agricultural communities and to support efforts that promote justice and equity. The screening of Invisible Valley fits perfectly into this mission by offering an intimate look at the lives behind the labor.
