We promote positive human understanding and behavior, through charitable, scientific and educational efforts, of the equality of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, physical and mental abilities and attributes, as well as all other characteristics comprising individual identities, an essential part of any proud, peaceful and prosperous community in which to live and work.
Diversity Coalition San Luis Obispo County was created to provide programs and resources that celebrate our diversity and promote inclusion of all members of our community. We share a passion for our communities and are working to foster pride in our area and the people who live and work here.
Diversity reflects a mix of ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, physical and mental abilities. Our residents come in different sizes and shapes. We have different socioeconomic groups and education levels and a range of political opinion. Together we create the fabric of our communities.
Whether physically challenged, from a different ethnic group, speaking a different language or growing up in a particular religious environment, differences become part of everyday life when we allow them to be, well, part of everyday life.
The strength and success of our community and nation, is based on honoring our diversity. We believe that sharing and respecting differing viewpoints is a necessary component to achieving this.

According to the Society for HR management, 91% of HR professionals surveyed report diversity helps keep their organizations competitive
